<br />
How to make your morning commute a little better: cut up some fruit (or pick grapes off the stem) and put in a cup. Snack as you drive. A little natural sugar and a bit of hydration can go a long way at 7am.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/POfpNUbvHd8_WGJ--bmAbudh7qeJwq2ZNaB72Doh15Prgvhs6oIaFcIc2Mn3QofnuFW_K0Ff9eq4zt7Hfk8zkyyYHe4=s800" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/POfpNUbvHd8_WGJ--bmAbudh7qeJwq2ZNaB72Doh15Prgvhs6oIaFcIc2Mn3QofnuFW_K0Ff9eq4zt7Hfk8zkyyYHe4=s800" height="640" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
NOTE: obviously <i>driving</i> should be your #1 priority whilst driving. Only snack on things that you don't need two hands to eat, or that require you to look down to pick up and eat. Fruit that doesn't drip or squish is also a good idea - don't want to stain that cute outfit!Lizhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13491051281857104430noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4696742718823595516.post-75949885790610718212014-09-30T15:03:00.000-04:002014-09-30T15:03:00.387-04:00How To: Cheap and Easy Vanity Table DIY<div style="text-align: left;">
This little pseudo-vanity table is one of my favorite parts of my tiny little room. Most pre-built vanities I looked at were insanely expensive... Come on, we've all drooled over them on Pinterest - you know what I'm talking about. As a recent grad, it was a bit (read: WAY) out of my budget to spend more on what is essentially a table with some built-in drawers and a mirror than I do on my monthly car payment.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
And then I realized wait, it's a table with some built-in drawers and a mirror. I can totally make that. Or at least fake it. <i>Et voila!</i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjXnKCIDK6ZNHwwOWfDLwle8fAByzVOqbcm2FQoMiN4MBDDJ_rhFNXwUjWcdIKO0fn5MqE3U8nu0bGEBBDHzO8tlTzpOhVAfd0wqVJ1EH9abHDoobhoLd6S_og2E_IsLEHpqEk8lzlSo6ZD/s1600/IMG_0006.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjXnKCIDK6ZNHwwOWfDLwle8fAByzVOqbcm2FQoMiN4MBDDJ_rhFNXwUjWcdIKO0fn5MqE3U8nu0bGEBBDHzO8tlTzpOhVAfd0wqVJ1EH9abHDoobhoLd6S_og2E_IsLEHpqEk8lzlSo6ZD/s1600/IMG_0006.jpg" height="640" width="480" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i><br /></i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>Table: $5 at a sample sale (it's seriously 3 pieces of wood glued/screwed together, ultra easy to DIY)</i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>Gold box: $2 also from sample sale (again, spray paint a cheap Joanns tray for another easy DIY)</i></div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>Mirror: reused from <a href="http://wornthreadbare.blogspot.com/2013/03/diy-home-colorblock-framed-mirror.html">this home DIY</a> from my last apartment</i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>Plastic drawers: Target for like $15 bucks</i></div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>Chair: "gifted" from my dad - go thrift one that fits your table for super cheap!</i></div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSm14YAeOpzAQ7Cq0YjwpwvO3Q_Je1g6NBV6Ck9gZVt_VaLnOpzKmx9vtHpJOYxe60c8OQF2DSBt5JoLoD19YJYi6FF1sOMi3VwdbUaxjBO_DJ39WPYgei66-ANsivyEb7zYGWrwicP0Yw/s1600/IMG_0003.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSm14YAeOpzAQ7Cq0YjwpwvO3Q_Je1g6NBV6Ck9gZVt_VaLnOpzKmx9vtHpJOYxe60c8OQF2DSBt5JoLoD19YJYi6FF1sOMi3VwdbUaxjBO_DJ39WPYgei66-ANsivyEb7zYGWrwicP0Yw/s1600/IMG_0003.jpg" height="640" width="512" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="text-align: start;">The gold tray on top of the drawers holds all of the things I use daily: face lotion, eye cream, body lotion, deodorant, perfume, etc. My hair tools, make up, and masques/specialty lotions/etc live in the drawers.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhnvhBwzr2tvHVPiuSQ9DMPY3cm7HMo7dJwELrOb5YVck4oW2Z6CHII2MjYerbPmA_aqMgHDXSa_eVAvEAJpZXsrHKee7wRXAop_twQDwNpLAkL3BuxEdDgUGLBcOsDowCV0R25Ne95fSkW/s1600/IMG_0004.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhnvhBwzr2tvHVPiuSQ9DMPY3cm7HMo7dJwELrOb5YVck4oW2Z6CHII2MjYerbPmA_aqMgHDXSa_eVAvEAJpZXsrHKee7wRXAop_twQDwNpLAkL3BuxEdDgUGLBcOsDowCV0R25Ne95fSkW/s1600/IMG_0004.jpg" height="640" width="480" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Yes, the plastic drawers are a tad janky and should probably be replaced with some decent looking ones (or painted/have a cool scrapbook paper makeover!). Yes, it's not very ornate and the chair doesn't "match". But it's got plenty of natural light, more than enough storage, outlets to plug in my hair dryer/curler, and cost like 40 bucks! I'll take it!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiKT3JoQVkZ3F3uc3mhwk0fvUBFL0Q7ReG7dWKJxW9vxAKRvL1lOZ1B53LaNTUpn3pZGqw7RKQqaF9cvWmO8XybyrLuu0qSYCLWSNdYBNXX_ENT5Gz9oz8UHlQfIiUCuzfno_tDi2GVuD01/s1600/IMG_0007.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiKT3JoQVkZ3F3uc3mhwk0fvUBFL0Q7ReG7dWKJxW9vxAKRvL1lOZ1B53LaNTUpn3pZGqw7RKQqaF9cvWmO8XybyrLuu0qSYCLWSNdYBNXX_ENT5Gz9oz8UHlQfIiUCuzfno_tDi2GVuD01/s1600/IMG_0007.jpg" height="480" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
And yes, that "hand of God" pencil drawing is there to stay (it's actually a pencil study that a right handed art student did of his left hand lying on the table). I weirdly love its creepiness.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

Suckers for cheese I suppose.</span><br />
<br />
Anyways, this is probably the biggest blogger-cliche of all time, but I've recently been crushing HARD on two Instagram feeds and thought I'd share the awesome.<br />
<br />
First up? <a href="http://instagram.com/thedogist">@thedogist</a> with his PUPPIES!!!!! And by puppies I mean beautifully photographed dogs around the world, some up for adoption, some missing limbs or traditional cuteness factors, but all so full of personality and life. I've followed "dog a day" type accounts before but these little guys are in an insta-class of their own (see? Hardcore cheesin').<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://scontent-b-iad.cdninstagram.com/hphotos-xfp1/l/t51.2885-15/10543939_731013760277543_1323284937_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://scontent-b-iad.cdninstagram.com/hphotos-xfp1/l/t51.2885-15/10543939_731013760277543_1323284937_n.jpg" height="640" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>This mean muggin fellow's name is Jesus. I like to think it's pronounced Hay-sus.</i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://photos-f.ak.instagram.com/hphotos-ak-xpa1/10523542_269100003278437_678628555_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://photos-f.ak.instagram.com/hphotos-ak-xpa1/10523542_269100003278437_678628555_n.jpg" height="640" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<i>Pixel. The most aptly named dog EVER.</i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://scontent-b-iad.cdninstagram.com/hphotos-xpa1/t51.2885-15/10518125_252905801566673_1371072588_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://scontent-b-iad.cdninstagram.com/hphotos-xpa1/t51.2885-15/10518125_252905801566673_1371072588_n.jpg" height="640" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>DAT FACE!</i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://photos-g.ak.instagram.com/hphotos-ak-xaf1/10576014_1450264791902566_1526678156_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://photos-g.ak.instagram.com/hphotos-ak-xaf1/10576014_1450264791902566_1526678156_n.jpg" height="640" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>The phrase "I can't even..." has never been more appropriate.</i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
And secondly, this gorgeous gal, <a href="http://instagram.com/dinatokio">@dinatokio</a>. Each blogger has their own unique style, yes, but this darling is so genuinely refreshing. Modest, yes, but an absolute inspiration in a sea full of half-naked-on-a-beach-cause-this-swimwear-company-sent-me-here-to-take-Instagram-photos photos. She keeps sneak-peeking a collection she designed too (see the second photo), which I'm very excited to see!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://distilleryimage9.ak.instagram.com/fd048ef6a78211e3856b12464f66a581_8.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://distilleryimage9.ak.instagram.com/fd048ef6a78211e3856b12464f66a581_8.jpg" height="640" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>SUCH SASS. And I would totally borrow those glasses and never return them.</i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://photos-d.ak.instagram.com/hphotos-ak-xap1/925266_1398704990351811_150414649_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://photos-d.ak.instagram.com/hphotos-ak-xap1/925266_1398704990351811_150414649_n.jpg" height="640" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<i>Dress. Jeans and heels. City. All of it. Yes.</i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://photos-f.ak.instagram.com/hphotos-ak-xpf1/10454099_1472012093045277_77291278_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://photos-f.ak.instagram.com/hphotos-ak-xpf1/10454099_1472012093045277_77291278_n.jpg" height="640" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>I would wear this everyday and sometimes to sleep</i></div>

In addition to having travelled and lived all over the world (India and Jordan just to name two of her previous homes), she makes stuff. Awesome stuff. Like floral crowns and clothes and art displays.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
She invited a group of friends over to shoot for a flowercrown lookbook a while back, that was so much fun, I just had to share. She brought over suitcases full of lacy tops and flowy dresses, did our makeup, and we basically played dress up for a couple hours in my backyard. Always so much fun hanging with these beautiful ladies!<br />

Ten days ago, I was given a job offer. And over the course of these past ten days, there's been cheesy motivational posters and blog posts and TED talks and "two paths diverged in the woods" and wonderful, beautiful, heartfelt (and if I'm being honest, tear-jerking) advice from my dear friends, mostly saying the same thing: take a leap of faith! Just do it! Be afraid and do it anyways! You'll regret what you don't do more than what you do!<br /><br />But I couldn't help but think - what if "do" is deciding to <i>do nothing</i>? What if "do" is saying no? What if the scarier thing is not to take that leap? And worse, what if "do" is seeing an unexpected opportunity fall into your lap, and making the decision to leave it?<br /><br />Some of me argues that I <i>should</i> take it. It's a great career move, it's very slightly higher take-home pay, and it's closer to many of my college friends. I'm afraid that rejecting this offer would mean I'll be seen as unambitious, or lazy, or afraid, or making a mistake, or be letting people down, like I'm settling. I'm afraid of going against most of the advice that's been offered me the last ten days. It's a great job with many opportunities, there's really no denying that. But at the end of the day, I just don't <i>want</i> to go. And I think the people who know me best both sense and understand that.<div style="color: #222222;">
<span style="font-family: Times, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
I've always had to leap at opportunities like this in the past because of circumstance - I needed a job, <i>any</i> job and so had to take an opportunity when it came. But now I'm in a place and position and circumstances where I don't have to. I have a job. In fact I just started a new position barely two months ago at a huge company, I am finally starting to "bond" with my bizarre little city and although I'm not rolling in the dough, I can finally pay my own bills.<div style="color: #222222;">
<span style="font-family: Times, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
I like where I am, right now. I might not like it six months from now, but it's not six months from now yet. Right now, if I stay, it's because I've consciously <i>chosen</i> to do so. It opens up the world of being able to choose - I <i>chose</i> to stay, therefor I can also <i>choose</i> to leave when that time comes.<br /><br />The past ten days have been unbelievably and indescribably difficult for me. I've literally given myself migraines trying to rationalize taking either option. Every time I thought I was close to deciding, my brain went AH NO BUT WAIT and started to swing back the other way. There's two radically different paths in front of me, and I saw happiness down both of them. I really really hate "no take back" decisions like this. But for the first time potentially ever, it is fully a choice, and I'm choosing to look at it like that knowing that there will be more choices like this down the road, both more and less difficult and life-changing. There will be more jobs, and ones I fall in love with, and ones that feel right, and ones that are too good to pass up.<br /><br />Am I thinking about all this just way too much? Am I still mildly terrified that I'm making the "wrong" choice or that I'll regret it in six months? Yes on all accounts, but it's silly to be paralyzed with fear of something that I can neither predict with any accuracy, nor control the outcome of. I only know my gut and what I think is "right" for me, right now.<br /><br />So for now, I'm staying.<br /><br />p.s. I am utterly incapable of expressing how much I appreciate all of the care and kindness my friends near and far have shown me the last couple weeks, and for the advice from so many unexpected places. Truly, thank you. And come visit me sometime! <3Lizhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13491051281857104430noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4696742718823595516.post-55576415211920311102013-08-24T10:08:00.000-04:002013-08-24T10:08:08.228-04:00OH MY GOD I MISS BLOGGINGAnd sewing stuff and thrift shopping and making dumb sh*t that I only rarely use but makes me happy anyways and <u>having time to do all that stuff</u>. <br />
Here's the deal.<br />
<br />
I can't really explain why I haven't written a post in a month.<br />
<br />
True, it has been a bit of an uninspired month for me. True, I feel like I'm hitting a wall with this blog, and have been struggling to find time to fit it into my life up here. True, I'm now working one full time job and one part time job, helping relocate my sister, training for a triathalon (surprise!), and trying to maintain some semblance of a social life - all while trying to figure out what I want to do (next) with my life and organizing/decorating my apartment.<br />
<br />
But it's also true that I've still continued to make stuff. I tore apart my coffee table a couple weeks ago, added new legs to the top, and spray painted it bright blue. The bottom half is now an adorable bench in my bedroom. I have new sewing projects, new decor, new organizational methods and tips, new hair tricks, and even some new recipes that I would love to share.<br />
<br />
And yet I haven't posted.<br />
<br />
And for some reason, I feel <i>guilty</i>. I feel like I'm letting my friends and (again, oddly loyal) readers down, and to an extent, letting myself down for not keeping up with this "commitment". I keep feeling like a <i>real</i> blogger wouldn't do this, a "<i>successful</i>" blogger wouldn't do this... Is that weird?<br />
<br />
In any case, I'm not really sure what to do from here. Should I stop blogging? Should I re-commit myself (again) to this (lost?) cause? Would it really matter either way?<br />
<br />
I blog because I like making stuff and showing people the stuff I've made. It's really that simple. And I think posts like this are somewhat self-important and selfish in a way, but really, I just hate the radio silence.<br />
<br />
Thanks for indulging me,<br />
<3<br />

However, no one's even attempted soooooo here's a hint: 26.<br />
<br />
Secondly, have I mentioned yet how much I love love love these LEAF videos? The ladies behind them are just genius. And their latest video is a home run for someone (like me) who can't exactly renovate their entire kitchen.<br />

Of The MonthHappy Friday my lovelies! It's been a crazy long week, and an even crazier, even longer month. I missed last month's riddle (forgive me?) so this month I'm raising the stakes two ways, just cause that's how I roll. <div>
<br /></div>
<div>
First, in addition to monthly riddles, you're now also getting monthly photos by yours truly, mostly cause I'm a visual person and it's hard for me to imagine many posts without pretty pictures to look at. They'll range from film photos I took in high school and college (like the one below) to digital snapshots I've taken on my various travels.</div>
<div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
And secondly, <i>a real prize</i>! Winner of this week's riddle gets a $10 gift card to an Etsy shop of their choice (though you're always welcome to ask me to make you something)! Yay for supporting small business owners!</div>
</div>
<div>

So I figured I'd ease myself back into the swing of fashion DIYs with this unbelievably easy belt tutorial.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjeGOAbitftR4LMrjD6SfMsl4nzgpXCjvrUe2v5CPDja3KX1Ky3kt4YAIYuhSGw9x52FpSvTc101pHqF6h8AT7sQV1svma-zVhMogUy97HR0R-TzXYZ1_QMBbKS-7GLFEisfNjk1qBCWkcH/s1600/WornThreadbare+Gem+Belt+DIY+01.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjeGOAbitftR4LMrjD6SfMsl4nzgpXCjvrUe2v5CPDja3KX1Ky3kt4YAIYuhSGw9x52FpSvTc101pHqF6h8AT7sQV1svma-zVhMogUy97HR0R-TzXYZ1_QMBbKS-7GLFEisfNjk1qBCWkcH/s640/WornThreadbare+Gem+Belt+DIY+01.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8370/8594444938_20f762e71c_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8370/8594444938_20f762e71c_b.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
And for those of you wondering why I've fallen off the face of the Earth, don't worry. You'll get to see my face tomorrow! Stay tuned, but for now:<br />
<i><br /></i>
<i>What you need:</i><br />
Wide grosgrain ribbon<br />
Gems<br />
Glue (like E600) or needle/thread<br />
<br />
<i>What you do:</i><br />
1) Measure a piece of ribbon that will fit around your waist with enough extra on either side that you can easily tie it (about a foot should be plenty).<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8510/8593377753_efb81b07c4_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8510/8593377753_efb81b07c4_b.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
2) Burn the edges to prevent it from unraveling.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8372/8594473118_7ebdc35e0f_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8372/8594473118_7ebdc35e0f_b.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
3) Take the gems and place them out on the center of the ribbon. I did this pretty randomly, and just kinda pushed them around until they looked pretty!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8235/8593373763_02c7548094_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8235/8593373763_02c7548094_b.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
4) Dip the back of each gem in glue and press back down in place. Once the glue dries, you can quickly stitch each gem into place for extra security.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8365/8593373543_1c12983f07_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8365/8593373543_1c12983f07_b.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
5) Tie in a pretty bow! (Speaking of which, did you know that <a href="http://www.ted.com/talks/terry_moore_how_to_tie_your_shoes.html">you're probably tying your shoes -and other bows- wrong</a>?)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8371/8593393025_b840daac03_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8371/8593393025_b840daac03_b.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8251/8593341147_5a8565d6ca_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8251/8593341147_5a8565d6ca_b.jpg" width="620" /></a></div>
<br />
I can't even tell you how much I love this belt. You'll get to see the whole outfit tomorrow!<br />

Those of you who follow my Instagram (@wornthreadbare) already know this, but I ran a 5k this past weekend! Yes it was snowing, yes I was one of the only non-OSU Div 1 athletes running, yes I had to pee, and yes I wish I'd run outside in the cold at least once before yesterday. But it was worth it!<br />

<i>CRAZY FACE</i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
The race was founded in memory of a 25 year old girl who was non-smoker her whole life, yet died of lung cancer a few years ago. My family has a whole bunch of ties to lung cancer organizations for a variety of reasons, so although I ended up with an embarrassingly bad time result, I at least felt good that I finished and helped out a great cause!Lizhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13491051281857104430noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4696742718823595516.post-19630917492297720162013-03-20T17:38:00.000-04:002014-09-29T21:26:31.153-04:00DIY Home: Colorblock Framed MirrorOne, happy Spring!!<br />
Two, know what one of the best things about having your own place is? Being able to paint a square of wall this pretty bright yellow, and <i>no one can say anything about it!</i><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8523/8575001775_198826e504_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8523/8575001775_198826e504_b.jpg" height="640" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
<i>What you need:</i><br />
A mirror<br />
Painter's tape<br />
Bright paint (those 8oz paint samples are perfect for this)<br />
Paintbrush<br />
Drop cloth (newspapers works just fine)<br />
Screwdriver/screws<br />
Hooks or drawer knobs (I got mine at <a href="http://www.worldmarket.com/category/home-decorating/decorative-accessories/knobs-wall-hooks.do?nType=2">World Market</a>)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8094/8576095110_1f0221085b_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8094/8576095110_1f0221085b_b.jpg" height="640" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
<i>What you do:</i><br />
1) Start off with an area that is in desperate need of color. Even a pretty mirror doesn't make this area less boring...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8251/8575002673_41f44e5148_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8251/8575002673_41f44e5148_b.jpg" height="640" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
2) Hang your mirror and tape off an area around it, making sure you're leaving extra room at the bottom for hooks and that you're square (though a circle or triangle frame could also be super cool!). Sorry for the dumb face and masking tape. I was really excited, and it was all I had...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8102/8576103368_ce9d8809b6_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8102/8576103368_ce9d8809b6_b.jpg" height="480" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>Oh, and ever wonder what camera I use? No? Well, this little point-and-shoot is it.</i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
3) Take down your mirror (but leave in the screw!) and carefully paint in that box. My paint said to do at least two coats, waiting an hour or two between. I kind of liked the post modernism of just a huge yellow square on my wall...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8379/8575007231_0d3bd20e28_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8379/8575007231_0d3bd20e28_b.jpg" height="640" width="502" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
4) Hang your mirror back up. Mark where you want your hooks to go, and screw them in.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8092/8576098646_3f9257ba2a_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8092/8576098646_3f9257ba2a_b.jpg" height="476" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
5) Done! Seriously brightens up this dark corner in my apartment.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8510/8575005287_221046f423_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8510/8575005287_221046f423_b.jpg" height="640" width="480" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8102/8576100600_bdcc30d618_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8102/8576100600_bdcc30d618_b.jpg" height="640" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
I kind of think it needs something else though. I'm tempted to paint the border of the mirror in another bright color, or add a chalk paint trim... what do you think??<br />

I put up <a href="http://wornthreadbare.blogspot.com/2013/02/diy-valentines-dreamcatcher.html">this beautiful glass shelf</a> a couple weeks ago in my dining nook to hold all my plants, but hated the thought of hiding it under a bunch of ugly flower pots and dishes. Enter my solution!<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8505/8538605954_8dc1b86231_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8505/8538605954_8dc1b86231_b.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /><div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Cork! It fits with my <a href="http://wornthreadbare.blogspot.com/2013/03/mini-monday-clementines.html">neutral/white/pops of color thing</a> I've got going on in my kitchen and living area, and is low-profile enough to not take away from all my pretty plants! The cork naturally absorbs water that might leak out from the soil, saving your shelf. However, I definitely recommend watering your plants in the sink and letting them drain there for a few minutes.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8107/8537496845_18ee02cfeb_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8107/8537496845_18ee02cfeb_b.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I took a roll of cork (you can get it at pretty much any crafts store), traced and cut out circles, and that was it! I made a few sizes, so you can see some...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8105/8537499227_7c81ba107d_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8105/8537499227_7c81ba107d_b.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
...and others are pretty hidden! I couldn't help but hide this little adorable little owl along with it.. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8530/8538608928_66a20938cc_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8530/8538608928_66a20938cc_b.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Another good flowerpot dish? A teacup and saucer! I just plopped this little guy and his pot inside this teacup and that's it!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8252/8537501283_45ef6fae9f_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8252/8537501283_45ef6fae9f_b.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Don't know what to do with the clementine peels after you've eaten the delicious fruit inside? Kitchen smelling a little funky? Just turn on your garbage disposal, run a little water, and throw 'em on down! The oils in the rind get ground up and makes your whole kitchen smell so wonderful. (Or you could compost them!)<br />

I didn't, however, love the fact that there wasn't a mantle shelf above it. Girl's gotta have a place to put all her fancy art (well, once I get some...)!<br />
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
To make matters worse, it's not only an awkward length that apparently no pre-made shelfs would fit, but there also weren't any studs in the wall to hang it from anyways. So, I just had to make one.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8090/8496848442_a8263a0243_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8090/8496848442_a8263a0243_b.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>Super tall ceilings + no shelf + no art = boooooring!</i></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8366/8495739725_e1345853fa_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="526" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8366/8495739725_e1345853fa_b.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>SO much better!</i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<i>What you need:</i><br />
Wood board<br />
Shelf brackets<br />
Screws<br />
Studfinder (if no studs, get screws specifically for drywall installation)<br />
Sandpaper<br />
Stain and/or varnish<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8512/8496850072_1e1a20c764_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8512/8496850072_1e1a20c764_b.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
<i>What you do:</i><br />
1) Measure your fireplace width, then add a few inches on either side. I only added 5, so that it would end right over the brackets on either end, and not extend beyond the edges.<br />
<br />
2) Determine how deep you want your shelf to be. Keep in mind that if your fireplace is relatively small like mine, you don't want a huge shelf to totally overwhelm it.<br />
<br />
3) Pick out the type of wood you want, and get it cut down to size (yay Home Depot!). I chose Aspen since I liked how light it was and I knew I wouldn't be applying a stain.<br />
<br />
4) Since most freshly cut pieces of wood look something like this...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8103/8496847802_0de5486574_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8103/8496847802_0de5486574_b.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
...lightly sand your new shelf. Stain and varnish if desired (I didn't since it's so darn cold outside and you DO NOT want to have all those fumes inside).<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8235/8495742101_d09899d442_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8235/8495742101_d09899d442_b.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>Oops, kind of over-sanded that corner... but at least no splinters!</i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
5) Install your brackets, ensuring they're level and that you're drilling into studs. While this isn't super important for small pictures, screwing into a stud is essential for any heavy/load-bearing wall items like shelves.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8099/8495744363_f9ee994837_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8099/8495744363_f9ee994837_b.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
6) Place your board on top of the brackets and attach using small screws. These are really just to keep the shelf from sliding off the brackets, so don't need to be super duper heavy duty.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8091/8496846530_4d17c8b54d_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8091/8496846530_4d17c8b54d_b.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>Pro-tip: don't completely tighten each screw one at a time. Partially screw them all in, then go around and tighten them all gradually.</i></div>
<br />
7) Place art and <a href="http://wornthreadbare.blogspot.com/2013/02/diy-matchstick-bottle.html">DIYed match bottles</a> (look, I made another one!) and a giant calendar on your new shelf. It's obviously a bit bare right now, but hey, art will definitely be DIYed in the near future!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8249/8495740729_9c852a925c_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8249/8495740729_9c852a925c_b.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

It makes me so sad because lipstick looks so unbelievably fabulous on other girls/women, but it looks like a cruel joke on me. Which sucks especially bad in the month of love and red and hearts and sparkles... So my beauty goal this spring is to conquer (or at least not cower in fear from) lipstick!<br />
<br />
From my research thus far, here's a few of my favorite lip DIYs and tutorials:<br />

They always look so cute in pictures, but so horribly cheesy in my living room. So I tend to avoid them like the plague.<br />
<br />
Buuuuut with all of these sparkly things leftover from projects past, I couldn't help myself. Especially since it would make for such a horrible pun about <i>catching</i> the man of my <i>dreams</i> for Valentine's... But I'll try to restrain myself....<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8525/8472378870_edc74659e9_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="460" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8525/8472378870_edc74659e9_b.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<i>What you need:</i><br />
Embroidery thread or yarn<br />
Rhinestones and beads<br />
Embroidery hoop<br />
Glue<br />
Scissors<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8520/8471283785_c4bc1c532f_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8520/8471283785_c4bc1c532f_b.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<i>What you do:</i><br />
1) Tie thread around the edges of the embroidery hoop at random.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8093/8471283669_1a0215967f_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8093/8471283669_1a0215967f_b.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
2) String some beads or rhinestones along some of the threads. I had rhinestones that had two holes, so I used two threads to suspend a couple, and then let a couple hang down. You could also tie knots on either side of the bead to keep them in place.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8099/8471283271_377b04dedc_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8099/8471283271_377b04dedc_b.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8375/8472378462_04d7b7e4ee_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8375/8472378462_04d7b7e4ee_b.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8110/8472378000_26a0e4d498_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8110/8472378000_26a0e4d498_b.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
3) Wrap some thread around the embroidery hoop if desired.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8086/8472378366_0d2ec8ac12_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8086/8472378366_0d2ec8ac12_b.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
4) Glue all the loose ends to the back of the hoop.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8228/8472378244_146a8d023d_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8228/8472378244_146a8d023d_b.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
5) Hang up! Hint: Oh look, a preview of an upcoming apartment decor post :)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8508/8471282809_eb21a7b278_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8508/8471282809_eb21a7b278_b.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8517/8472377872_f9e3fb2807_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="494" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8517/8472377872_f9e3fb2807_b.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>

Unfortunately, art pieces that big are <i>slightly</i> outside my budget. Okay, so what about wall decals?<br />
<br />
I've always thought wall decals were a little tacky. Most are flowers, butterflies, or "inspirational quotes" with the words "live, laugh, love" somehow incorporated. Booooooring.<br />
<br />
And then came <a href="http://www.whatisblik.com/">Blik</a>. I'm going to thrift a giant cheap frame, take everything out of it, hang the frame above my mantle, slap one of these (surprisingly affordable) beauties inside it, and I've got myself a statement piece of art.<br />
<br />

For all the old school video game geeks out there (woohoo!) they also have huuuuge <a href="http://www.whatisblik.com/shop/explore/super-mario-bros">Super Mario Bros</a>, <a href="http://www.whatisblik.com/shop/explore/pac-man-maze-re-stik">Pacman</a>, <a href="http://www.whatisblik.com/shop/explore/asteroids">Asteroids</a>, and <a href="http://www.whatisblik.com/shop/explore/space-invaders-re-stik">Space Invader</a> wall decals. Still don't see anything you'd like? That's alright, cause you can just <a href="https://www.whatisblik.com/BMD/">DESIGN YOUR OWN</a>.Lizhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13491051281857104430noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4696742718823595516.post-58500268628901309852013-02-05T11:55:00.000-05:002013-02-05T11:55:00.366-05:00DIY: Matchstick BottleYou know <a href="http://wornthreadbare.blogspot.com/2012/11/diy-tribal-poncho-hoodie-shawl-thing.html">those times when the name you come up with for something is not nearly as awesome as the thing itself is</a>? Yeah, this is another one of those times. I've been going through matches like crazy recently since I moved into <a href="http://wornthreadbare.blogspot.com/2013/01/thankful-thursday-delayed-part-two.html">my new fireplaced apartment</a>, and their box isn't exactly display-worthy. So I made a matchstick bottle with a built-in strike surface.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8492/8445967327_645abd8b55_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8492/8445967327_645abd8b55_b.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
<i>What you need:</i><br />
Matches and their box<br />
Scissors<br />
Glue<br />
Any ol' bottle (I actually used a soap dispenser I found for cheap at Target)<br />
A cap or cork of some sort<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8508/8445964265_e60ef86ffa_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="534" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8508/8445964265_e60ef86ffa_b.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<i>What you do:</i><br />
1) Cut the striking bit off the matchbox.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8226/8447053740_094590d5dd_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8226/8447053740_094590d5dd_b.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
2) Glue it onto the bottom of the bottle, being careful not to get glue on the actual striking surface.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8092/8447052966_f38780aa9c_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8092/8447052966_f38780aa9c_b.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
3) Once dry, fill the bottle with matches.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8234/8445963521_f36e9d372f_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8234/8445963521_f36e9d372f_b.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
4) Top it off with the cork and you're good to go! I can't wait to DIY a mantle above my fireplace so this guy will have a real home (currently living on my new-to-me entertainment center). It's in the works!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8363/8445962863_587baa05cf_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8363/8445962863_587baa05cf_b.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>

<br />
1> This is the most amazing, all wool and fur vintage coat that one of my sweet co-workers back in Nashville gave me right before I left for Columbus. This is the real deal folks - it's beautifully made, fully lined, has huge pockets and these super cute vintage-y buttons, and she gave it to me for free (on the condition that I pass it along <i>gratis</i> to someone else when I no longer want it). Yes it is real fur, but its vintage and second/third hand, so I feel slightly less bad.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8096/8431882125_4b2e3e5af9_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8096/8431882125_4b2e3e5af9_b.jpg" width="388" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8081/8432966798_cbb0edcd2f_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8081/8432966798_cbb0edcd2f_b.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8193/8432966090_018cf85a61_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8193/8432966090_018cf85a61_b.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<i>Oh and RU, I found the note you left in the pocket a couple weeks back and almost cried. Thank you!!!</i></div>
<br />
2> And this is the gorgeous little key necklace that one of the high schoolers I worked with gave me right before I left. Such a sweet heart in this kid, I know he's going places!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8092/8431879941_706b314c3b_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8092/8431879941_706b314c3b_b.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
3> Lunch dates with new friends. 'nuff said.<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
4> Chocolate milk. I can never seem to leave the grocery store without one of these, but it's such a great pick me up.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8378/8433001992_299730d4c0_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8378/8433001992_299730d4c0_b.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
5> All of my things finally coming out of boxes, but mostly my adorable french press. I spend so much less on coffee now that I have this thing again.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8470/8433001566_6175477978_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8470/8433001566_6175477978_b.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
6> Getting to go visit Nashville this weekend, even if one of my dear friends isn't going to be there (JS, I'd better see you soon!!!).<br />
<br />
7> Being able to start back into DIYing and crafting. SO many ideas, I just need payday to roll around. Rent and food before jewelry, no matter how much I wish it were otherwise.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8053/8433002146_5280497fb3_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8053/8433002146_5280497fb3_b.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
8> The beauty of winter. Otherwise, it would be an intolerable season.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8184/8431916605_6ff5f19565_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8184/8431916605_6ff5f19565_b.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8227/8431917209_cb1e974144_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8227/8431917209_cb1e974144_b.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
9> <a href="http://www.amazon.com/The-Tigers-Wife-A-Novel/dp/0385343841/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1359643636&sr=8-1&keywords=tiger%27s+wife">This book</a>. It's been just a beautiful read so far. It's dreamy and matter-of-fact and sentimental, with a touch of magical realism, without being too much of any.<br />
<br />
10> And finally, fireplaces. It's been bitingly cold up here, so this has been a common sight this past week:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8329/8433002478_386638800e_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8329/8433002478_386638800e_b.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<i>1, my socks really aren't that dirty, I promise! 2, I'm in love with these F21 leggings I got a few week back.</i></div>

And although a bar is definitely not a huge priority in setting up my new place, I've already got a place picked out for my drinks cart. And although there are a million and a half methods of bar-building, one that puts it into an easy 7-step video is definitely my favorite.<br />

First, I get violently and suddenly ill halfway through moving into my new apartment. Then my internet doesn't get set up until a week after I've been here, disallowing me from <a href="http://wornthreadbare.blogspot.com/2013/01/january-riddle.html">announcing the riddle winner</a>, only letting through two prescheduled posts. Then I realize that being an adult means having to pay rent and utilities and not purchase fabric willy nilly from Joanns. Boo.<br />
<br />
In any case, internet is back and so am I! So without further ado, and although almost all of you got the right answer despite its gross factor (I'm so proud! <i>sniff</i>), the winner is...<br />
<br />
SHENOAH!!<br />
<br />
Congratulations!! Email me and we can talk about your fabulous prize!Lizhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13491051281857104430noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4696742718823595516.post-88259924717787025842013-01-25T15:18:00.000-05:002013-01-25T15:18:00.097-05:00A Little Bit Of Friday Happiness<a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/AtelierStellaLondon">These little pots</a> make me smile, <i>nay</i>, grin like a big idiot. Because they are just that stinkin adorable. I'm off to go purchase like 30 of them so I can have a mini garden of happy little plants in even happier little pots. (Except the shop technically only has 3 on sale right now...)<br />
