A Little Bit Of Friday Happiness

These little pots make me smile, nay, grin like a big idiot. Because they are just that stinkin adorable. I'm off to go purchase like 30 of them so I can have a mini garden of happy little plants in even happier little pots. (Except the shop technically only has 3 on sale right now...)

Gah it's like they all just have really fabulous hair and they know iiiiit!! Or they're really super shy about their new haircuts or just got asked by a cute girl to prom or I really need sleep.

Etsy Updates

Still don't have a functioning computer (borrowing my dad's right now), but I have updated my Etsy shop, including making a few new fabric options available for my Kindle cover and putting a few of my DIY rings up for sale.

Even more exciting, I've added a brand new photography section (!!!), featuring my European travels 2005-2008. Check it out! I'll be adding ten or so more photos over the next couple days. And I promise I've got a few cool DIYs for the blog planned for the very near future :)

I've been wanting to expand my blog for a while, and my good friend Bernardo finally convinced me that an Etsy shop for things I'd be making anyways isn't a half bad idea. Especially so since I need moneys to get myself a new sewing machine, as mine broke last week...

There's only a couple things up (though I'm working on a few more pretty simple things today and tomorrow so stay tuned!), mostly because I have no idea what you all would want to buy! Soooo give me suggestions! A version of my fringe earrings or necklace? Embroidered shirts/tanks/sweaters? My giraffe (or other animal of your choice) scarf? Mugs with pig noses on the bottom or mustaches on the side? Remember my sewing machine is broken so I can't do anything too crazy until I save up enough to get myself a new one :(

DIY: A Bit of Teal Rebellion

After an impromptu almost-cross-country roadtrip, I'm finally home. First thing I do? Dye my hair tips teal.

And buy not-so-ironic hipster glasses (I'm looking at you, RHu)

This was a somewhat small act of "rebellion" against complacently sitting at home waiting for my future to fall in my lap. Staring at this giant cliff of graduation and the rest of my life, I decided that since I don't have a job yet and so am not tied down with work commitments etc yet, I might as well have some fun with it while I'm searching. Here's how I did it:

What you need:

Hair dye color of your choice
Old shirt you don't mind getting dyed/bleached

Hair bleach (optional, though recommended if you have dark hair)

Plastic gloves

Plastic wrap

Hair dryer

What you do:

1) Put on old shirt. Bleach the section of your hair that you want colored. Since I have pretty light hair anyways and didn't want the color super bright (and didn't want bleached hair tips once it faded) I skipped the bleach.

2) PUT ON GLOVES. I didn't, with this as the result. Eek.

3) Separate hair into sections and apply dye to hair according to the directions for the dye. Make sure to work the dye into the hair really well so it doesn't end up patchy.

4) Wrap in plastic wrap and blast with your hair dryer on high heat for however long your dye instructions say. For me, it was about 40 minutes (or, roughly the length of a Psych episode).

Works best with dramatic lighting.

5) Rinse really really well and let air dry.
