I found it didn't really do much for my hair, though to be fair I only used it twice before I gave up. The first time I left it on my hair for about 45 minutes, and the second for almost 2 hours. My hair was pretty frizzy and weird to manage, and not terribly noticeably softer.
I was pretty happy with how it made my thesis (thesis-aftermath) undereye circles a little less horrendous, though. I guess any good moisturizing cream or any oil might do this, but coconut oil is significantly cheaper than anything you could buy at a department store so bonus points! And although I hate to admit it, the smell is growing on me - makes me feel like I'm at the beach all the time.
As for a general skin moisturizer, it really is pretty awesome. It makes my skin SO soft and nice (and nice-looking!) and even makes all the weird bumps and rough patches go away. But since it's an oil, it can be a bit weird/gross if I'm wearing pants and a bit greasy if its super hot out. My skin gets dry again after a night's sleep, but nothing lasts forever right? Then again, the longer I use it, the softer and nicer my skin feels! Definite A+ as a moisturizer.
but seriously, my legs look like this now
Have any of you had crazy good/crazy bad experiences with coconut oil? Have recipes for a good smoothie or something? Let me know!
Hey Liz!
ReplyDeleteCoconut oil is AWESOME in food, and you should totes try it. It's great for making stove-top popcorn, stir-frying veggies, and baking! Check out Smitten Kitchen's recipe for Double Coconut Muffins... It uses coconut oil, and I tried it and they came out amazing. Enjoy!
xx Nicole
Thanks Nicole!! I'll definitely try it out! I'll let you know how they turn out :D
